In a Few Words—
The seven thunders (last-day events) are based on Daniel’s fulfilled prophetic events of the past. In the order of Daniel’s time prophecies, the symbolic years, the sixth event would be:
1798 AD —The French Revolution, which began in 1789, abruptly cast off the Catholic yoke. On February 20, 1798, Pius VI had been dethroned, imprisoned, exiled, his private library confiscated, his state given up to plunder, and his subjects placed under the military control of the French General Berthier. (But this wound was healed in later years under the Lateran Treaty of Feb 11, 1929.) Dan 7:25; 12:7.
